Computer hangover
Article Abstract:
Computer experts believe that many organizations are still too complacent about year 2000 transition problems. They believe that 20-50% of computer systems will not be year 2000 compliant by the millennium, due to the extent of the workload or to the system being overlooked. Experts estimate that the global cost of fixing the year 2000 problem will be $600 billion, and they anticipate a range of problems due to non-compliant systems. Californian state agencies face year 2000 transition costs of $230 million, with one of the main problem areas being the Department of Motor Vehicles.

The conjunction effect: fallacy or Bayesian inference?
Article Abstract:
Research evidence rejects the notion that the conjunction fallacy is due to individuals providing reverse probability estimates rather than normal estimates. Such an assumption is fallacious due to experimental findings which reveal that people disregard base rates when making judgments. It is also nonsensical to assume that people continually focus on probabilities of one kind rather than another especially if a particular problem favors a latter interpretation.
