A private geriatric care manager can provide services for older persons who would like remain in their homes. The managers, in a way, become surrogate family members for the elderly whose actual family may live miles away. Fees generally range from $30 to $150 an hour.

Tax-Aide workers tackle the 1040

Tax-Aide was formed in the late 1960s to assist low- and moderate-income older Americans with their taxes. There are about 30,000 volunteer workers in the program and over 1.5 million taxpayers are helped annually. Other details about the program are discussed.
