As many baby boomers including Pres Bill Clinton and columnist George Wills, turn 50 and receive an invitation to join the AARP, they often react with horror thinking that old age and the grave loom close. The goals and services of AARP along with the reality of a healthy lifestyle is discussed.

The AARP was established for persons 50 years of age or older, with the purpose of promoting their interests and improving the quality of life for all. Many thousands of AARP members become involved with their communities by helping in the information and education programs of the organization.
