Low-cost, highly rated funds produce strong results
Article Abstract:
The star rating study found that generally 5-star funds modestly outperformed their peers on an absolute basis on a risk- and load-adjusted basis as measured from June 2002 to June 2005. Over this shorter period, the combination of low expenses did even better, most likely due to the turnaround in the markets.

A rally despite dark clouds
Article Abstract:
The markets in the US got a strong start in January 2006 as large capital gained about 3% and small capitals gained about 8%. Among small-company funds, Turner Small Cap Growth TSCEX and Keeley Small Cap Value KSCVX gained about 9.5%.
