A war of starvation
Article Abstract:
Life was hard for most ordinary people during the second world war, and undernourishment and even starvation were common. However, people held in prisoner of war camps were in particularly difficult conditions. They had to come to terms with hunger, fear and violence, and lost all privacy. Disease was rife, and deaths took place every day. People with any medical training played a vital role in protecting the health of their family and the people living around them.

Vineyards around England and Wales have always produced wine that compete with the best in the world and warm summers since the turn of the twenty-first century has boosted production to record levels. There is however a difference between British wine which is fermented and bottled in the UK and English wines which comes from grapes but it is felt that there is still some way to go before these wines can better than their French counterparts.
