2nd quarter EPS falls
Article Abstract:
The basic and diluted earnings per share (EPS) of investor-owned electric utilities, before extraordinary items, amounted to $0.33 for 2nd qtr 1998. This amount represents a 10.8% drop in the EPS of utilities for the same period in 1997 which stood at $0.37. However, if nonrecurring items are excluded, the EPS for 2nd qtr 1998, improved by 7.1% from $0.36 to $0.39. Revenues during 2nd qtr 1998 were aided by warm spring weather but were offset by accelerated depreciation, higher interests and reduced level of other income.
