The Clean Air Act approved in 1970 and amended periodically has channelized the Environmental Protection Agency to recognize the six most serious pollutants, carbon monoxide, lead, nitrogen dioxide, sulfur dioxide, ozone and particulates and bring National Ambience Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) for areas violating the air quality standards.
