Article Abstract:
Sampling is the term used for data collection in statistical analysis. The three most commonly used sampling methods are the random sample, the line sample or belt transect and the quadrat sample. Using random numbers to define the extent or position of the sample helps assure a representative sample. the optimum size quadrat sample can be determined by increasing the size until the diversity does not increase significantly with size increase.

Don't throw away your data
Article Abstract:
Geographers need to use statistical methods to derive patterns from the data they collect, but use of an improper model can make this impossible. The five main types of test results are: probability prediction, differentiating between two samples, correlation of two samples, examining for diverse activity and testing for the occurrence of clusters or dispersal of persons or activities. Specific methods to achieve these results are listed.
