Collecting your information
Article Abstract:
The data required from geographic fieldwork can be collected many ways but there are some important fundamentals. These include not going alone, requesting permission from the pertinent authorities and politeness to human subjects. When gathering information via a survey or questionnaire format, use set answers that can be indicated quickly, do not include questions that can be answered through observation and be brief. A bibliography and list of sources in the UK for secondary evidence is presented.

Plotting to succeed
Article Abstract:
Proper presentation of experimental results is an important part of research. The use of graphs and tables can clarify presentation and describe relationships better than verbal description. Various types of graphic representation are presented including line graphs, bar charts, histograms, reverse bar charts, pie graphs, scattergraphs, rose and kite diagrams. Tables are frequently used in the construction of many of these graphs.

Vital statistics
Article Abstract:
Geographical research is conducted using statistics and the scientific method. This method requires the collection and testing of data in eight steps: observation, analysis, description, choice of specific problem, formation of hypothesis, experiments designed to produce data, results and analysis of results to confirm or reject the hypothesis. Statistical techniques are needed for the analysis of quantitative data.
