Muddy waters
Article Abstract:
Preventing catastrophic flooding of the Ganges River Delta in Bangladesh has been a government priority. Flooding in 1972, 1987 and 1988 was particularly devastating. The government and foreign agencies have been working to develop flood control regimes, but have been hampered by the lack of detailed hydrological, social and environmental information on the effects of large scale water management. Members of the Flood Action Plan have studied the last 20 years' worth of flood control efforts and found that the smaller, local projects have been more effective than the expensive state-sponsored ones.

Not 50, not 30: to you guv, a pony
Article Abstract:
Trading in antiques at Bermondsey market in London, England, is brisk from early in the morning, when dealers with shops make rapid deals. The market later attracts ordinary customers, who must first be talked to in a friendly way by the stallholders before they are encouraged to buy. Antiques dealing is very different at Grosvenor House, London, England, where only the most expensive pieces are on display. This market attracts only the most wealthy customers.
