Lifting the veil on CORONA
Article Abstract:
The development of the US's first military satellite system, CORONA, shows that courage, patience, persistence and organization are essential for any space program to succeed. The development and deployment of CORONA during the 1960s is described. Its deployment helped the US gather information about the USSR during the Cold War. CORONA helped the CIA accurately estimate the strength of Soviet nuclear, chemical, biological and missile programs.
