The world's population is expected to increase from 5.3 billion in 1992 to more than eight billion by 2020. Developing countries are responsible for as much as 95% of the world's population growth, and this growth is contributing to environmental problems. Great Britain traditionally has not given much attention to this issue, but environmental groups and aid organizations have begun to develop population policies.
