Referendum contingent valuation, anchoring, and willingness to pay for public goods
Article Abstract:
Analysis of the willingness to pay for public goods as determined by single referendum questions reveals that psychometric anchoring effects rather than incentive effects are the likely cause of commonly found in contingent valuation studies. The study also reveals that strong anchoring effects are found to lead to higher mean responses from yes/no surveys and that the popular single referendum elicitation is highly vulnerable to anchoring.

Exploring nonmarket values for the social impacts of environmental policy change
Article Abstract:
Analysis of nonmarket valuation of environmental policy change social impacts reveals that there is a need to accomodate multi-dimensionality in nonmarket research into controversial policies. The study takes into account grazing reform in New Mexico because of the complexity of the public debate and studies whether nonmarket values maintain the status quo land use and avoid the social impacts of environmental policy change.

Incomplete beliefs and nonmarket valuation
Article Abstract:
Analysis of risk-neutral beliefs and valuations with respect to the valuation of environmental goods reveals that beliefs and valuations are institution-dependent and are thus endogenous to the medium an individual chooses for self-expression. The study uses a subjective probability framework to develop an index of the completeness and the coherence of an individual's beliefs and valuations.
