Synergies in solar energy
Article Abstract:
Solar energy research is focusing on the development of thin film crystalline solar cells that trap 91.5% of light. The combined study of photovoltaics and thermal conversion and the practical application of optical principles produced novel transparent insulating materials that can be utilized for passive solar architectures that absorb heat and solar radiation for buildings. Furthermore, the research on the applications of bifacial photovoltaic systems and bifacially sensitive cells can be utilized for the development of photovoltaic generators.

The entropy of terrestrial solar radiation
Article Abstract:
Equations needed for the calculation of radiation entropy were formulated for comprehensive thermodynamic evaluation of energy conversion devices. The results showed that spectral and hemispherical distribution of radiation intensity and polarizationlevel had a significant influence on entropy. The method enables the calculation of entropy fluxes when the radiation energy flux is given.
