The 2000 time bomb

Companies with large databases are confronted with the century data change problem. When the calendar year changes from 1999 to 2000, many computer systems will be vulnerable because they were originally designed to recognize only the last two digits of the year. The century date change problem could lead to loss of data integrity, creating problems in several areas of the business. The three primary groups which can help provide date change solutions are reengineering tool vendors, large consulting firms and systems software and application vendors.
