The oldest city on Earth
Article Abstract:
San'a, Yemen is the oldest functioning city in the world and with its fast-paced growth and modernized facilities, it remains economically viable as well as culturally and historically significant. The city has existed since the estimated time of Christ's birth and much of the architecture dates back to medieval times. The city once supported itself by trading incense but now maintains modern stores, hotels and consumer goods for tourists. Much of San'a's population consists of Yemeni expatriates who left the Gulf states and Saudi Arabia after the Gulf War.
