Math sense for jurors: .8 + .7 - .8 x .7 = .94
Article Abstract:
Juror consideration of the threshold of doubt in mathematical terms might lead to more solid verdicts. The fact-finder can specify the probability of implication of each evidence item and can combine them as desired. The fact-finder should come to a finding of guilty if enough of the items of evidence implicate the defendant. Fact-finders should think of the threshold required from the evidence as a probability and estimate the probability of implication of each independent piece of evidence.

Waterworld: the new focus
Article Abstract:
Freedom of the seas is no longer a viable concept. Over 60% of the world's population live by the sea and depend on it in various degrees for their living. The third United Nations Conference of the Law of the Seas (UNCLOS III) has proposed parceling the oceans into six types of ocean space, with the Exclusive Economic Zone granting economic and access rights extending 200 miles from a nation's coast. Geographers need to take these new priorities into future consideration.
