Germany: First URRC recycling plant in Germany

Article Abstract:

German Krones AG will set up a PET recycling plant for SKP Recycling AG & Co., a subsidiary of recycling group Cleanway Deutschland. This will be the first German PET recycling plant which operates according to the URRC bottle-to-bottle procedure. Krones will act as a general contractor and design the Rostock-based plant for a capacity of 13,000 tons of PET per year. During the URRC procedure, the PET bottles are ground to uniformly-sized flakes, which can be used as high-value raw material for PET preforms. In 2000, Krones had commissioned the first URRC plant in Europe for PRI PET-Recycling International GmbH, another subsidiary of Cleanway.
