Netherlands: Hero considering divestments

Article Abstract:

Hero is considering to give up industrial business in the Netherlands and concentrate on branded products. The Swiss group might sell Carels Goes BV, described as the leading producer of finished and semi-finished fruit products for the bakery products industry and bakeries. Another target of divestment is Hero Industrial, which supplies fruit products to dairies and ice-cream manufacturers. Between them the two companies employ 150 staff and generate an annual turnover of SFr 70mn.

US: NUTRINOVA INVESTS IN SHERBROOKE FUND

Article Abstract:

The food additives producer Nutrinova has become a lead limited investor of Sherbrooke Capital Health and Wellness Fund of Boston, US. The subsidiary of Celanese is investing a double-digit US dollar amount in the fund that provides funding for nutraceuticals, functional food and food additive projects. The US$ 150mn fund is for 10 years. Other lead limited investors are Mead Johnson and General Mills.

INDIA: AGREVO TAKES OVER PROAGRO UNITS

Article Abstract:

Biogentic Technologies BV (BGT), the Dutch holding company of the Proagro group, has been taken over by Hoechst Schering AgrEvo GmbH. The group comprises Proagro Seed Company Ltd, Proagro-PGS India Ltd and Hybrid Rice International of New Delhi and MISR Hytech of Egypt. It is the second-biggest supplier of conventional and hybrid seeds in India.
