Polyesters as topical delivery systems: Their use in formulations containing organic sunscreens and AHAs
Article Abstract:
An efficient way of delivering actives to the stratum corneum (SC) is by using polymeric topical delivery systems (TDS). Polyester TDSs have been designed with the ability to concentrate certain lipophilic or hydrophilic actives on or within the outer layers of the SC. In vivo tape-stripping experiments were undertaken with polyesters showing certain structural features, to design TDS polyesters that mitigate skin penetration of organic UV absorbers.
