A longitudinal examination of American business ethics: Clark's scales revisited
Article Abstract:
American business ethics has been stable over a long term period and the future prospects are encouraging. Trends in American business ethics are examined using the ethical standards scale developed by Clark in 1966. Findings reveal that media coverage of business issues bring about changes in the ethics and responsibility of managers. While attention to specific behaviors may change individual values, changes in cultural values leads to behavioral changes. Although businessmen agrees on maintaining high ethical standards, confusion is evident on what constitutes better ethical standards.
