Recent Work in Feminist Ethics(*)

Article Abstract:

This article examines the tension between the criteria which an ethical theory must meet if it is to be counted as a feminist ethical theory. The author examines feminists who are developing a relational account of rights and moral responsibility. Feminist contractarianism and feminist moral theories on the problem of abortion are discussed.

Zimmerman on Culpable Ignorance

Article Abstract:

This article criticizes the theory of culpable ignorance, in which an agent is not responsible for holding a false belief. The author disagrees with philosopher Michael J. Zimmerman's theory that people are not directly culpable for their ignorance. The difference between direct and indirect control is discussed.
