Stakeholder theory and a principle of fairness
Article Abstract:
The issue on stakeholder theory in business ethics literature has been criticized due to the existence of several inconsistencies, particularly on stakeholder obligations. This problem can be remedied by applying the principle of fairness proposed by Rawls, Simmons and Cullity. The principle states that obligations of fairness exist among persons engaged in a mutually beneficial agreement of cooperation.

Article Abstract:
A critique is presented regarding the plausibility of the stockholder theory over the stakeholder theory. It is posited that utilitarian normative considerations favor the stakeholder theory, while deontological constraints in the stockholder theory do not necessarily increase its value against stakeholder theory.
