Toward a theory of the ethics of bureaucratic organizations
Article Abstract:
A comprehensive approach to bureaucratic ethics focuses on the essentials of the principal/agent theory, such as agency-risks and internal constraints. The approach analyzes responses to the distinctive agency-risks inherent in the principal/agent relationships of bureaucratic organizations. The ethical principles, applicable to bureaucracies, indicate an emphasis on the reduction of inherent agency-risks. This approach is preferable to previous models because it focuses on a system of internal constraints that define organizational roles and responsibilities.

Don Quixote and the problem of idealism and realism in business ethics
Article Abstract:
Great literature can bring about a better understanding of ethics in business. Dramatist Miguel de Cervantes' work 'Don Quixote' can be applied to the issue of the function of idealistic theory and realistic practice in business ethics. The story's protagonist, Don Quixote, and his companion Sancho Panza represent a relationship between two complex and very different people, the former being an idealist and the latter a down-to-earth realist. How the interplay between the two can be applied to idealism and realism in business ethics is discussed.

A theoretical ground for the practice of business ethics: a commentary
Article Abstract:
A realistic and functionally more accurate picture of business ethics emerges when a non-classical view of rationality leads to a new conceptual understanding of business ethics. The new understanding that departs from a traditional definition to recognize and legitimize the work of business ethics practitioners. Each partner in this rich interplay needs the other; each individual in ethics has to adopt individual social responsibilities for future reflections.
