Clinton provides outline of defense spending cuts
Article Abstract:
Pres Bill Clinton has furnished Congress with the details of his plan to reduce defense expenditures. The plan calls for a $127 billion cut in the previous budget submitted by former Pres George Bush. The proposal woud cut defense spending by $88 billion. The savings would be realized by freezing the annual Strategic Defense Initiative funding and by cutting down the number of active US troops. Clinton's total defense budget would reach $263.5 billion for FY 1994.
