Article Abstract:
The influence and unique life of musician and composer Theodore C. Pierce is recounted. Both of Pierce's parents were musicians, and he studied music from an early age. After studying at Harvard, Julliard, and Boston University, Pierce worked at a number of teaching and choirmaster jobs, eventually staying for 27 years as music director at Cushing Academy. Pierce maintained his love of the outdoors throughout his life, working many summers as camp musician at a boy's camp in New Hampshire. He also viewed music as a moral concern and saw the good in all forms of music.

Meintjes runs the Lenco Holdings manufacturing subsidiary Hendler & Hart. The firm employs 660 workers in its plant near Johannesburg, South Africa. Although the operation should be simple, the firm is plagued by labor, race and supply problems. Most of the managers are white and the workers black.

NBA imposes player lockout

The NBA implemented an off-season lockout on Jun 30, 1995, in response to the players' refusal to sign a previously-negotiated collective bargaining agreement. Some players want to decertify their union, and seven players have filed an antitrust suit against the NBA.
