Article Abstract:

Green Cross International head Mikhail Gorbachev thinks that the environmental movement would succeed only if the international community develops a single environmental agenda. Moreover, environmental efforts must be focused towards the stabilization of population and economic growth. Humans are left with about 30 to 40 years to repair the damages suffered by the biosphere. Additional damages may result from the opening up of a global market system.

Article Abstract:

Mikhail Gorbachev believes that the UN should be recreated to promote a change in cultural and institutional behavior in a worldwide scale. Gorbachev also believes that communism has come to an end and that a new value system should be developed based on the principle of the limitation of desires. Gorbachev heads Geneva, Switzerland-based Green Cross International. He was also Soviet Union's last president.
