Global inequality: 358 billionaires vs. 2.3 billion people
Article Abstract:
Two dangerous myths about economic growth have to be dispelled before the world can hope for human development. The first of these myths is the belief that the developing nations are doing fine and that the gap between the rich and the poor is closing. The second myth is that the inequality seen in developing countries will only be during the first stages of economic growth and will dispel later on. Studies show that economic and social development must be developed simultaneously if both are to succeed. Asian economies, such as Japan, Hong Kong and Malaysia, have shown that this is possible.
