Membrane switches and keyboards
Article Abstract:
Membrane switches are used in industrial keyboards and control panels. The membrane panel possesses two flexible circuits and when pressure is applied on a specific switch area, the two circuits are pushed together producing a connection. Several factors are considered when using membrane switches in keyboards and control panels. These are environmental conditions, frequency of the keyboard use and types of chemicals that may come in contact with the control panels. Other phenomena affecting the efficacy of membrane switches are electromagnetic interference and electrostatic discharge.

How the Big Apple cut to the core of its crime problem
Article Abstract:
New York City has decreased its murder rate by an unparalleled 56% from 1990 to 1996. Several factors are thought to contribute to the significant decline. These include the strategy of punishing even trivial offenses such as farebeating that commonly plague subways. Strong efforts to restore law and order in the streets from the city's former Black Mayor David Dinkins, along with a strict gun control are also commended. Making African Americans realize that crime perpetuates poverty and increasing police accountability helped reduce crime rate in New York City.
