Giving reason and politics their due: a response to O.C. McSwite's 'Legitimacy in Public Administration: A Discourse Analysis.'
Article Abstract:
One important criticism on the work of O.C. McSwite in the book 'Legitimacy in Public Administration: A Discourse Analysis' is the author's insistence that public administration should be viewed in a postmodernist context that is liberated from its political roots. Contextualizing public administration in the postmodernist context of the personal has its roots in the 'reason' sought by many scholars regarding their subject.

Liberalism (its present and future discontents) and the hope of collaborative pragmatism
Article Abstract:
The criticisms levied on the book 'Legitimacy in Public Administration: A Discourse Analysis' pale in comparison to the present workings of government which do away with public participation and instead rely on technology to impose control. Public administration needs to have its roots in liberalism, with its attending check and balances imposing the necessary control over the government's power over its citizens.
