Confirmatory factor analysis of the WISC-III with child psychiatric inpatients

Article Abstract:

The Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-Third Edition (WISC-III) has been widely used in research and clinical practice, and the underlying factor structure is a particular aspect of the Wechsler scales that has been extensively studied. The WISC-III was tested using confirmatory factor analysis, from samples of child psychiatric inpatients. Divergent correlations between index scores and reading, maths, written language and knowledge achievements, indicated evidence for criterion-related validity of the four factors.

Distress and self-restraint as measures of adjustment across the life span: confirmatory factor analyses in clinical and nonclinical samples

Article Abstract:

Confirmatory factor methods were conducted to evaluate the Weinberger Adjustment Inventory (WAI) Distress and Self-Restraint subscales. The WAI subscales were used to measure social-emotional adjustment in six groups of clinical and non-clinical populations who ranged in age from 10 to 65 years. Findings indicate that the traditional practice of using different measures of adjustment to assess older children vs. adults is unjustified.

Furthering the use of the strengths and difficulties questionnaire: Reliability with younger child respondents

Article Abstract:

The potential for the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) to be used with younger child respondents aged from 7 years to 11 years is investigated. The results indicate that the SDQ demonstrates sound interinformat and test-retest reliability.
