Family influences on self-reported delinquency among high school students

Article Abstract:

Parental discipline style is an effective predictor of self-reported delinquency among Australian high school teenagers. An inductive parental style predicts self-reported delinquency among females, while a punitive parental style is significantly related to self-reported delinquency in males. Positive family relations is significantly associated with high self-esteem among males. Locus of control and self-esteem fail to have a mediating effect on self-reported delinquency and family processes. Implications for clinical practices and further research are discussed.

Job-search strategies among teenagers: attributions, work beliefs and gender

Article Abstract:

There have been numerous studies on the psychological effects of unemployment on the youth. However, research on graduating high school students' beliefs about work and unemployment is practically nil. To remedy this problem, job-search strategies popular among teenagers still in school should be studied. Such a study should focus on the relationship between work-related factors and perceived job-search strategies.
