Predictive power of peer behavioral assessment for subsequent maladjustment in community samples of disruptive and nondisruptive children

Article Abstract:

Behavioural dimensions of children's peer reputation were assessed using the Revised Class Play (RCP), and it was found that the RCP indicators of aggressive-disruptive, sensitive-isolated and social etiquette were the best predictors of subsequent teacher-rated externalizing problems. There was no difference between groups on comparison of disruptive and nondisruptive groups in the relationship of baseline RCP scores to teacher outcomes.

Mother-child interaction, private speech, and task performance in preschool children with behavior problems

Article Abstract:

Verbal and nonverbal components of early mother-child interaction among behavior problem preschoolers were examined with a focus on the use of private speech. Behaviorally at-risk children used more overt, task-relevant private speech during individual problem solving, than controls, and partially internalized private speech use amongst at-risk preschoolers was positively linked with task performance.
