Rhyming words and onset-rime constituents: An enquiry into structural breaking points and emergent boundaries in the syllable
Article Abstract:
The role of set and rimes in Dutch-speaking children's implicit phonological knowledge is tapped using forced-choice similarity judgment and recall of syllable lists. The results demonstrate that children's sensitivity to rimes depends on similarity relations and might not reflect a fixed perceived structure of spoken syllables.

Beyond implicit phonological knowledge: no support for an onset-rime structure in children's explicit phonological awareness
Article Abstract:
The influence of onsets and rimes on children's explicit phonological awareness was studied in Dutch-speaking early readers. Phonetic factors appeared to be important but onset-rime structures were not treated as cohesive units of the syllable.
