The Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire: a research note
Article Abstract:
The correlation in scores on the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) and on Rutter questionnaires by parents and teachers of 403 children, who are attending psychiatric or dental clinics, indicated that the novel SDQ may be likened with the long-established Rutter questionnaires in terms of validity and reliability. SDQ features a compact format and a single form suitable for parents and teachers. It focuses on strengths and difficulties, and on items detecting hyperactivity, emotional symptoms, conduct problems, peer problems and prosocial behaviors.

Parent counselling: an evaluation of a community child mental health service
Article Abstract:
The efficacy of the parent counseling-based Parent Adviser Service was evaluated as a strategy for increasing the accessibility of child mental health expertise in highly deprived inner-city areas. A comparison was made between families that received assistance from both a Parent Adviser and existing community services, and those that received help only from community services. The findings suggest that the Parent Adviser Service is highly appreciated by parents and referrers alike.
