Article Abstract:
Technology transformed the division of labor that previously existed in the design industry. Technologically- or computer-proficient people are specialists, while those who are more interested in design conceptions could be considered generalists. The opposition that has been constructed between these conceptual categories in the current debate about the future of graphic design obscures the fact that specialists and generalists can combine their talents to create innovative and evocative designs.
