Article Abstract:

An analysis of data from 1994 to 2004 reveals that the total book market in China is growing and changing steadily with the development of marketing plans, techniques and programs. It also stresses the need of traditional publishing houses to understand the important role of information technology in the future of China's publishing industry in the areas of manuscript design, book production and sharing online information across China and throughout the world.

it is a pity this article is so old. Because the most interesting shift in Chinese publishing industry appears to happen at the watershed time during 2007.

Article Abstract:

The private bookstore businesses in the People's Republic of China have developed for 25 years since 1980. The Chinese government has tried to address and solve the structural issues in China's publishing and directly related book distribution industries by completely opening the book distribution market.
