The transformation of materials
Article Abstract:
Paola Antonelli outlined the central role of mutant materials in graphic design following an exhibition featuring them at New York's Museum of Modern Art. Antonelli said mutant materials would become preponderant as artistic media because of their malleability and the variety of expressive uses they could serve for the artist. According to Antonelli, technological innovations make it possible for physical materials to transcend their natural attributes, thus expanding their possibilities for expression.
