Walking a medical mile in Grand Rapids' shoes
Article Abstract:
A small region in Grand Rapids, Michigan is becoming a center for medical research, as organizations like Van Andel Insitute are expanding along the Michigan Street. Spectrum Health, for instance is planning to build a cacer facility in what is being called as "The Medical Mile". Michigan State University's planned expansion in the Medical Mile is also discussed.

Old water plant gets new mixed-use life
Article Abstract:
Developer Edward DeVrues has rehablitated and converted the Mediterranean Revival building, an old water filtration plant, into a mixed-use residential and commerical building, the Clearwater Place. The water plant was built in 1910, shuttered in 1992, then was abandoned for 12 years until bought in 2004 by DeVries, who started renovation in 2005.
