Maximizing corporate real estate's contribution to merger and acquisition success

Article Abstract:

The ultimate driver for acquisitions and mergers is enhancing shareholder value, but empirical evidence indicates that value can actually be destroyed. Investors have become wary of buying stock in companies involved in a merger or acquisition, so executives are seeking ways to make a merger or acquisition financially successful. One of the steps that should be included involves corporate real estate. While rarely the key driver in a merger or acquisition, the corporate real estate department should be included in the pre-closing integration team and given enough time to perform proper due diligence on real estate assets.
