Something in the forest

Article Abstract:

The restaurant and public house market in the West End is thriving with the development of themed restaurants increasing. Some agents suggest that the market is not really buoyant and point out that many restaurants fail to stay in business for long. Other agents deny that restaurants are failing but that they are selling out for a profit. The hotel business is also growing with the acquisition of the Browns Hotel for 45 million pounds sterling by Raffles of Singapore. Some redundant office buildings are being converted into hotels.

A richer blend

Article Abstract:

The UK's hotel restaurants are developing a more positive image as hotels establish links with well-known restaurant brands. Hoteliers are welcoming the opportunity to bring in an outsider to run their restaurants, especially as food and beverage costs can be very unpredictable. Restaurateurs also benefit from establishing links with hotels, where there is an easily accessible client base. However, there can be some difficult issues to resolve, such as the provision of room service and breakfast.
