Creative financing lands $125 million Swearingen aircraft plant in West Virginia

Article Abstract:

Swearingen Aviation Corp will build a $125 million assembly plant at Martinsburg, WV, which will build the $2.9 million SJ30 eight-seat business jet. The firm will receive financing amounting to $24 million from West Virginia banks and private venture capital funds and $3.5 million in state funds. State tax credits and customized job-training assistance also helped Swearingen choose the Martinsburg site. The 23,226-sq-m plant will be finished by fall 1993.

Alabama lands Lockheed plant to build $688 million 'Star Wars' missile

Article Abstract:

Lockheed Missiles and Space Company Inc will set up a new manufacturing plant on a 269-ha site in the George C. Wallace Industrial Air Park, Courtland, AL, which was a former Army Air Corps base during the second world war. Lockheed was awarded the $688 million contract by the US Army to build the Theater High Altitude Area Defense system, which will be used to destroy incoming enemy missiles.
