A history of forestry in Sarawak
Article Abstract:
The history of forestry in Sarawak, a 'remote' area, is of great interest suddenly because conflicts have arisen between various interests and ethnic groups for allocation of land and rights to forest resources. The economic/historical context of clearing of rainforests is thus important. The growth of the timber industry and the development of forest regulation at the state level have been studied as have conflicts of interest related to allocation and rights.
