Basic concepts of European private law
Article Abstract:
The first steps towards identifying the basic legal components that could be used to express some central non-basic European private law and legal components are proposed. Findings reveal that the availability of such a set of basic legal components should facilitate the comparative study of European systems of private laws and be helpful for efforts to harmonize these systems.

The creation of new Estonian private law
Article Abstract:
A critical summary of the drafting and adoption of new private law in Estonia after its independence from the Soviet Union in 1991 is presented. The issue is discussed with reference to the Commercial and Civil Codes, which form the base of the new legislation.
