Borders on the fantastic: mimesis, violence, and landscape at the Temple of Preah Vihear
Article Abstract:
The International Court of Justice (ICJ) on Jun 15, 1962, made a ruling in regards to the area of Brahmanic temple named Preah Vihear, which was disputed between Cambodia, a former French colony, and Thailand. The court ruled in favor Cambodia because Thailand failed to protest the inaccuracy of the map purporting to reflect the watershed line between the two states, and thus constituting tacit acceptance of the map line as the line established by previous treaties.
