Chante Luna and the commemoration of actual events
Article Abstract:
The case of Chante Luna offers prime material for sorting out what Americo Paredes calls the folklorization of actual events as well as the object of the present exercise, the commemoration of actual events. The case of Chante Luna offers valuable insight into how people process history, and how they make use of traditional expressive forms to cope with the often disconcerting swirl of actual events.
