China and the issue of postwar Indochina in the Second World War
Article Abstract:
China emerged from diplomatic isolation during the Second World War, when it first allied itself with powerful countries in the West. After the war China formulated a strategy to renovate its relations with other Asian countries. Since many countries in Indochina were Western colonies, China's policy towards them could not be separated from its policy towards the West.

Korea, China, and Western barbarians: diplomacy in early nineteenth-century Korea
Article Abstract:
A negative view of traditional Sino-Korean relations has affected Western perception of Korea more seriously than of China. A review of Christian movements considered as heresy against the orthodox Confucian teaching, among other incidents involving Westerners in Korea from 1800-1860, will help in understanding negative connotations associated with Korea.
