China and the new geopolitics of Central Asia
Article Abstract:
China has closely monitored the rise of Central Asian republics which has made a notable impact on Central Asian geopolitics. In order to prevent regional conflict due to the presence of newly independent nations having strong ethnic ties, China has actively pursued diplomatic efforts with each of the Central Asian republics. Another major issue that China should become actively involved concerns the proliferation of conventional and nuclear weapons within the region.
