Development and democratic consolidation: the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, and Peru in comparative perspective
Article Abstract:
An analysis of the influences in democratic consolidation reveals that socioeconomic development is influential but it is not the only factor thatdetermines the level of democratic stability. The study evaluates the social and economic indicators of Peru, the Dominican Republic and Guatemala by using longitudinal and diachronic data analysis. The study also concludes that socioeconomic progress has to be directly proportional to the level of political and economic equality.

Trade neutrality: a clarification
Article Abstract:
Trade neutrality approach contained in trade policy tends to ignore the intertemporal aspects of economics. Utilization of intertemporal model showed that trade policies containing trade neutrality approach wrongly interpret intertemporal relative prices and enhance the current account. They are also misleading with regards to reasons nations adopt policies with trade neutrality approach.
