Herta Muller, born in 1953 as a member of the German minority in Romania, is interviewed about her novel "Heute war ich mir lieber nicht begegnet." The novel takes place during a streetcar ride to an interrogation by the Romanian secret police, and the description of the ride alternates with memories of Muller's early life. Muller also speaks about her collage poetry.

Identity construction and computers in Thomas Hettche's novel "Nox."
Article Abstract:
The effect the use of a computer-human voice has on the construction of identity in Thomas Hettche's novel "Nox" is discussed. Germany is simultaneously portrayed as a Utopian space and as the site of a constant struggle, and the computer voice functions as the platform for the Utopian aspect of this novel.
